About me
Sou do tamanho dos meus sonhos.
I am, Marisa.
Marco de Canavezes. You might have never heard about this place, but I was born there. Near Oporto, involved by Tamega River. My childhood was full of adventures and dreams, between heroes and fairy-tales, surrounded by family and friends, love and principles for life. A happy childhood makes me stand, today, as a mother, for an even better time for the youthful of my children. Those where the years the sense of freedom and curiosity sustained my evolution as a young girl and, later, as a woman. Yes, I treasure those memories and experience, as I cherish all the accomplishments in my life. I fought for them.
Pathways led me to legal and justice education and challenges. I think fighting for fairness has been within me ever since. But there comes a time when to deliver only the professional side of me – as a lawyer or as a speaker – wasn´t enough to fulfil the need of learning, discovering new trends, masterminding ideas and, most of all, aggregating all within a lively citizenship. I strengthened my beliefs in the power of Humanity, in the opportunity brought along with an approach to a renaissance of men and women at their best as Human.
Therefore, I’ve been part of projects that aim to deliver worldwide causes – standing for Human Rights, for Gender Parity, for Sustainable Development –, I´ve been honoured as I was elected for board memberships of entities and ONGs committed with development and future-driven innovation, and my agenda was rescheduled to accommodate such inspiring and responsible challenges that enriched my days and my ways of being… me.
All these experiences and responsibilities brought me a sense of urgence in order to be part of the Change that we, as Humans, need to face to survive. Humanity of Things (HuOT) was born to become a catalyst of agents of change, Brawas stands for female leadership and for girls empowerment, …. It has been a long way since Marco de Canavezes to Delft, where I live nowadays. New dreams and challenges are (still) born every day, unveiling that the best is yet to come.
I am the size of my dreams.
How others describe me
With all the international experience and background that Marisa gained through the years she is perfectly placed to help expats facing issues in their working country and home country, in particular Portuguese expats, like myself.
